This calendar includes events and engagements that I'll be attending, including activity with the Calvert Photography Club. In addtion you will also find interesting photo opportunities that may be worth checking out if you're looking for a unique situation to shoot.
Thank you to the Loudon Photo Club in Ashburn, Virginia for hosting me and having me preset at their meeting. The theme of the presentation was "Planning Your Shot". I discussed 10 lessons learned in planning photography outings and trips, and included stories and photos I've captured in learning those same lessons. Hope the members enjoyed the presentation and thanks again for having me!
The Loudoun Photo Club presentation scheduled for this night has been cancelled due to the snow. Expectations of 12-18" of snow dictate it just can't happen. Plan is to reschedule for sometime in the fall.
I'll be presenting at the Calvert Photo Club weekday meeting on black and white processing techniques. B&W photography is so much more than converting your photos to gray-scale. From simulating different types of film, different sensitivities to color, contrast and curves, the way a color photo can be converted to B&W are virtually limitless. And there are some incredible digital tools to help. I'll be covering the basics using tools like Lightroom and Photoshop, and also demonstrating some of the special tools like Nik's SilverEfex Pro.
The 20th annual ArtsFest was great, thank you to all the people that came out!
I presented a topic on Lightroom for the Calvert Photo Club. If you're local to southern Maryland, the Calvert photo club is a great opportunity to further your knowledge in photography. Check out the club's website for more info. We covered many topics, some beginner and advanced tips, and also reviewed what new features were introduced in Lightroom 5.
I presented at the June meeting of the Calvert Photography Club on the topic of Long Exposure Photography. We covered a wide array of topics including what it is, what equipment you need, and of course we covered tons of tips, tricks, and examples.
I ended up taking all my notes and images and putting them into two blog posts. You can read them by following the links below.
